Omaha Skutt Catholic Boys Reload for Another River Cities Conference Run

    By Dean BackesDecember 1, 2025

After pouring through oodles of statistics, all-state, all-conference and all-area teams, last year's state tournament bracket and plenty of postseason rankings, we have uncovered our River Cities Conference projections for 2025-26.

Kyle Jurgens lost plenty of scoring from last season's 24-5 Class B state championship team. But Omaha Skutt Catholic just seems to reload. The SkyHawks have won 226 basketball games over the past decade, so don't be shocked if Jurgens' club hovers around 20-25 Ws in 2025-26.

Back to lead the charge for Jurgens is senior George Ziebell who buried Skutt Catholic foes with 9.5 points and 8.0 rebounds a contest. The 6-foot-9 Center was also credited with 22 assists, 15 steals and he swatted 33 enemy shots.

Fellow senior Gideon Linderman is Jurgens' No. 2 returning scorer. The 6-foot-3 forward averaged 6.3 points and gathered in 2.5 boards a contest and was credited with 47 assists, 36 steals and four blocked shots on the year.

Mount Michael Benedictine went 13-11 a year ago and returns a solid junior class as Todd Taravella tries to carry the Knights to more wins in 2025-26. Griffin Snyder comes into his junior season as Mount Michael's top returning scorer after he went off for 11.8 points a game last winter. Paxton Theis and Connor Sall combined for 13 points a contest in 2024-25.

    Enough of my rambling. Enjoy!
