Crawford Girls are Odds-On Favorite in Panhandle Conference after taking two of three from Morrill in 2024-25

    By Dean BackesDecember 1, 2025

After pouring through oodles of statistics, all-state, all-conference and all-area teams, last year's state tournament bracket and plenty of postseason rankings, we have uncovered our Panhandle Conference projections for 2025-26.

Morrill did post the best record in the Panhandle Conference a year ago, and has the athletes to do it again, but we're handing the conference's preseason top spot to Crawford due to the Rams taking two out of three contests from the Lions a year ago.

Senior honorable mention all-stater Keslyn Vogel comes back as head coach Madison Suchor's top returning scorer. The 5-foot-7 guard/power forward poured in 13.4 points a game a year ago and reeled in almost six rebounds a contest to go along with 52 assists, 68 steals and 17 blocked shots on the year as Crawford went 12-10 in 2024-25.

Juniors Sage Dyer and Peyton Osmotherly return as well, and they combined for 11.8 points and 12.6 boards in 2024-25. Dyer was good for 33 assists, 20 steals and 14 blocked shots while Osmotherly posted 21 assists, 37 steals and blocked four shots last winter.

Morrill went 16-11 a season ago and returns plenty of talent to improve on its win-loss record. Head coach Alicia Hawkins will rely on a pair of seniors and a sophomore to carry the Lions closer to 20 wins in 2025-26.

Senior Katelyn Walker posted a stat line of 13.5 points and 6.9 rebounds a game to go along with 34 assists, 69 steals and 56 blocked shots. Senior Madisyn Carrizales and sophomore Claire Edwards combined for 7.0 points and 8.2 boards a game last winter.

    Enough of my rambling. Enjoy!
