Crofton Girls and Guardian Angels Central Catholic Headed for Another Spirited Mid-State Conference Battle

    By Dean BackesNovember 11, 2025

As is usually the case, Crofton and Guardian Angels Central Catholic appear to be headed for another Epic Battle for Mid-State Conference Supremacy in 2025-26. Both programs hit the 20-win plateau and competed in the Class C2 Nebraska Girls State Basketball Tournament a year ago.

Crofton, 25-4 in 2024-25, upended the Bluejays 52-45 in the Class C2 Consolation Championship in March to claim its third win over Guardian Angels Central Catholic and get the sweep in 2024-25. Head coach Maggie Moon returns senior Jaisie Janssen who poured in 11.0 points and ripped down 8.1 rebounds an outing a year ago.

The 6-foot center/forward added 30 assists, 64 steals and 28 blocked shots to earn First Team All-Mid State Conference honors last year. Junior Seanna Pinkelman returns as well after ripping the cords for 6.2 points and grabbing nearly four boards to go along with 41 steals as a sophomore.

Sophomore Bailey Gerths is back for Jerry Stracke as Guardian Angels Central Catholic tries to take back bragging rights and improve on their 20-7 record from 2025-26. The 5-foot-11 guard averaged 12.3 points and 7.8 boards while adding 44 assists, 53 steals and 19 blocked shots to her stat line a year ago.

Senior Charlie Dinslage boosted the Bluejay offense with 6.0 points and corralled 3.7 boards a night to go along with 40 assists, 33 steals and 10 blocked shots. Pierce, O'Neill and Hartington Cedar Catholic sit 3-4-5 respectively and are all capable of making a conference championship run.

    Enough of my rambling. Enjoy!
