Mullen Girls Ride Talented Lineup to a Mid-Nebraska Activities Conference Title

    By Dean BackesNovember 23, 2025

After pouring through oodles of statistics, all-state, all-conference and all-area teams, last year's state tournament bracket and plenty of postseason rankings, we have uncovered our Mid-Nebraska Activities Conference projections for 2025-26.

Kay Dent welcomes back several key players from last year's 19-3 season in which the Mullen girls dropped a disappointing 40-21 loss to Wilcox-Hildreth in the D2-5 District Final.

The result? Plenty of motivation and a real possibility Mullen claims the Mid-Nebraska Activities Conference championship and makes a deep run toward the Nebraska Class D2 Girls State Basketball Tournament in March.

Back for her final season at Mullen is Hayley Donohoe who befuddled Bronco foes with 12.7 points and 7.1 rebounds an outing to go with 20 assists, 63 steals and 11 blocked shots for the year. For her efforts, Donohoe was named to the Mid-Nebraska Activities Conference's First Team.

Junior Riley Hegland earned Second Team All-Conference honors after adding 9.3 points and 2.6 boards a contest to go with 24 assists, 50 steals and a blocked shot. Sophomores Jenna Donohoe and Brynne McCully combined for 10.7 points and 7.6 rebounds an outing.

Donohoe added 39 assists, 68 steals and six blocked shots while McCully contributed 36 assists, 45 steals and eight blocked shots.

Anselmo-Merna head coach Trenton Kirchmann guided the Coyotes to a 20-6 record last winter. Back to lead the way for Kirchman is Rhianen Myers who ripped the cords for 9.7 points and reeled in 6.8 rebounds a game. The 5-foot-9 guard added 86 assists, 64 steals and 37 blocked shots for the year.

Shayleigh Coleman and Lily Thornton combined for 14.5 points and 10.6 boards a contest a year ago.

    Enough of my rambling. Enjoy!
