Wynot Girls Get Two Thumbs Up in Battle for Lewis and Clark Conference Title

    By Dean BackesNovember 20, 2025

After pouring through oodles of statistics, all-state, all-conference and all-area teams, last year's state tournament bracket and plenty of postseason rankings, we have uncovered our Lewis and Clark Conference projections for 2025-26.

Wynot drew a brutal assignment in last season's D2-2 District Final and fell to eventual Class D2 state champion Falls City Sacred Heart 47-36 to end their 2024-25 season at 12-9. However, Steve Wieseler always puts a fantastic club on the basketball court. This season should be no different.

Kenna Oligmueller is one of four seniors returning for Wieseler. The 5-foot-10 small forward earned First Team All Lewis and Clark Conference honors a year ago.

Point guard Jaylin Greisen will try to improve on the Third Team All-Conference honors she earned in 2024-25 while Haley Wieseler and Addison Sharp, both guards, are back following Honorable Mention All-Conference Seasons a year ago.

We did go back and forth on promoting the Blue Devils ahead of Homer who went 24-3 a year ago and fell to eventual Class C2 state champion Oakland-Craig in the state tournament quarterfinals. The Knights did lose quite a bit of talent from last year's club.

Head coach Merlyn Tremayne, however, does return senior Lilly Harris who averaged 12.4 points and 1.7 rebounds a game last year. The 5-foot-8 point guard posted 85 assists, 73 steals and seven blocked shots. Fellow senior Janessa Overgaard scored 6.1 points and reeled in 7.2 boards on average to go with 14 assists, 29 steals and 43 blocked shots.

    Enough of my rambling. Enjoy!
