Lutheran High Northeast Boys Step out of the Shadows and Atop the Greater Northeast Activities Conference in 2025-26

    By Dean BackesNovember 16, 2025

After pouring through oodles of statistics, all-state, all-conference and all-area teams, last year's state tournament bracket and plenty of postseason rankings, we have uncovered our Greater Northeast Activities Conference projections for 2025-26.

A year ago, Lutheran High Northeast took a few lumps while battling through a brutal Greater Northeast Activities Conference slate and producing a 14-10 record. Now, however, Kenny Blank and his older and more experienced Eagles look like a club that may just take its place atop the league.

Senior Gavin Feddern returns after averaging 12.4 points and 4.5 rebounds a year ago to earn First Team All-Greater Northeast Activities Conference honors. Colston Kapels is back after averaging 11.9 points and 2.4 boards a game as a freshman a year ago.

As juniors, Ian McDonald and Cole Lawless scored 7.0 and 6.5 points a game respectively and combined for 3.5 rebounds a game while D'artagnan Taylor was good for 10.5 points and 3.4 boards a contest as a sophomore a year ago.

Elkhorn Valley head coach Derric Werner returns Korbin Werner who received First Team All-Greater Northeast Activities Conference honors after averaging 14.5 points and 9.5 rebounds a contest to go along with 82 assists, 30 steals and 14 blocked shots as the Falcons went 15-9 last year.

Juniors Logan Black and Jack Qualset combined for 9.4 points and 6.2 boards in 2024-25. Plainview went 15-8 last winter and returns the talent to finish in the Top 3 while Summerland (25-4) and West Holt (22-7) rebuild after playing on the final day of the state basketball tournament last March.

    Enough of my rambling. Enjoy!
