Elm Creek Boys Perched Atop the Fort Kearny Conference to Begin the Season

    By Dean BackesOctober 22, 2025

After pouring through oodles of statistics, all-state, all-conference and all-area teams, last year's state tournament bracket and plenty of postseason rankings, we have uncovered our Fort Kearny Conference projections for 2025-26.

First Team All-Class D1 honoree Quin Oberg returns for Tanner Cavenee after averaging more than 21 points a game a year ago and helping the Buffaloes to a 21-5 record and a berth in Nebraska's March Madness. Juniors Caleb Reiter and Blake Erickson who combined for more than 20 points an outing last winter come back as well.

Amherst is loaded too with the return of junior Gavin Davis, a member of the Third Team All-Fort Kearny Conference squad after averaging over 11 points a game during last year's 17-6 run. Three other Broncos come back for co-head coaches Connor Beranek and Eric Rippen who carried averages anywhere from six to 10 points each.

Loomis and Overton battled through 13-10 and 13-11 campaigns respectively last year. Both clubs return plenty of fire power and could challenge for a spot high in the Fort Kearny Conference standings.

    Enough of my rambling. Enjoy!
