It's ladies up first in Nebraska when it comes to putting on the show that decides which basketball programs take home the championship hardware. While many of the same programs are back in the hunt, there are no guarantees when it comes to March Madness.

Here at Heartland Prep Basketball Scoop, we've taken some time to crunch numbers and pick the field ahead of this weekend's State Basketball Tournament. Then, we gathered data from MaxPreps and elsewhere to make a list of the state tournament's top players.

While there are no rematches scheduled for Wednesday's Class C1 quarterfinal action, there is plenty of basketball excitement on the docket. Defending C1 champion Lincoln Christian kicks off its title defense by locking horns with state tournament heavyweight North Bend Central.

After missing the tournament a year ago, Gothenburg is back and takes on tournament regular Bridgeport who is on a 17-game winning streak. Combined, Minden and Columbus Scotus have won 13 straight games. One team will stay hot while the other goes home following Wednesday's action.

Milford and Arlington are both making their first trip to Lincoln in some time. But both clubs are loaded with basketball talent and the ability to make a deep March run.
